DHL Express expands global portfolio with new Heavy Weight Express solution for shipments up to 3,000 kg
- Heavy Weight Express enables global heavyweight express shipping up to 1,000 kg per piece / 3,000 kg per shipment
- Proactive shipment control through dedicated Heavy Weight Priority Desks ensures high reliability and customer service support
- DHL Express expands in the heavyweight segment, responding to growing demand
Bucharest, May 19, 2026: DHL Express announces the global expansion of its Time Definite International service with the launch of Heavy Weight Express (HWX), an air express solution for shipments up to 1,000 kilograms per parcel and 3,000 kilograms per shipment. With this service, DHL Express strengthens its position as a global logistics integrator with the ability to transport heavy freight with the speed and reliability of an express service to more than 220 countries and territories. The service is backed by the company's own air and road network, which ensures consistent capacity, pre-defined transit times and uniform global handling standards.
Heavy Weight Express has been designed for industries where speed and security of shipments are critical to business continuity. The service combines fast, time-guaranteed delivery, complete control, proactive monitoring and transparent pricing, eliminating the cost fluctuations and uncertainties associated with other types of cargo transportation. Customers benefit from guaranteed express transit times, complete visibility of shipments throughout the shipment and DHL's strict operational standards, including special procedures for fragile, high-value or specially regulated goods.
John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, said: "*Heavy Weight Express represents an important strategic step for our company, extending the value DHL Express brings to global supply chains. As industries face increased volatility, increasingly complex production cycles and significant financial exposure caused by delays and disruptions to supply chains, DHL's ability to offer express service speed, access to capacity and superior reliability for shipments up to 3,000 kilograms fundamentally changes the service standards that customers can expect from their logistics providers."
To support the new HWX solution, DHL Express has created dedicated Heavy Weight Priority Desk teams globally. These specialized teams proactively monitor shipments, quickly identify potential situations, intervene in real time and maintain direct communication with customers to ensure seamless shipments. Each shipment of this type benefits from dedicated management, giving customers the predictability and personalized attention typically associated with niche logistics providers, but with the added benefit of DHL's global infrastructure, standardized processes and 24/7 operational control.
The new solution directly addresses critical requirements in industries such as technology, automotive, engineering and manufacturing, life sciences and pharmaceuticals, oil, gas and energy, including: avoiding production interruptions, managing time-critical product and program launches, optimizing working capital by reducing buffer inventories, supporting large-scale transportation operations, meeting stringent handling requirements and stabilizing complex supply chains. In these sectors, even minor delays can have significant financial consequences.
By reducing reliance on fluctuating airline capacity and eliminating the variable costs of additional fees and handling charges, HWX offers the stability of using a single logistics provider from pick-up to delivery. DHL Express operates with its own air fleet, hubs, gateways, customs operations and last mile delivery services, offering customers predictability even in times of global disruptions or limited air capacity.
