DHL Express Announces Its Annual Rate Adjustment for 2027 in Romania

  • Rates will increase by an average of 7.9% and will take effect on January 1, 2027.

Bucharest 2026: DHL Express, the global leader in international courier services, announced today its annual rate adjustment, which will take effect on January 1, 2027. In Romania, service rates will increase by an average of 7.9%.

“International trade continues to open up new growth opportunities for companies, in a context where global supply chains are becoming increasingly complex and interconnected,” said Bogdan Enache, Managing Director of DHL Express Romania. “Our mission is to help customers capitalize on these opportunities and navigate with confidence in an ever-changing environment. That is why we continue to invest in the development of our global network, in advanced digital solutions, in security, and in sustainable logistics services. The annual rate adjustment allows us to maintain the high standards of quality and reliability that customers expect from DHL, while strengthening the resilience and flexibility of our global operations.”

DHL Express adjusts its rates annually, taking into account inflation, exchange rate fluctuations, and industry-specific cost trends. These measures are constantly updated by national and international authorities in each of the more than 220 countries and territories served by DHL Express.

In addition to inflation, the company’s cost structure continues to be influenced by factors such as energy costs, compliance requirements, and administrative expenses associated with changes in customs, regulatory, and security measures introduced by national and international authorities. Ongoing labor market pressures in many countries are also contributing to rising operating costs.

To support the growth of its customers’ businesses and maintain one of the world’s most efficient international express networks, DHL Express continues to make significant investments in its global infrastructure, fleet modernization, the development of digital capabilities, and the strengthening of operational resilience. Recent achievements include the completion of the delivery of a fleet of 28 Boeing 777 cargo aircraft, the introduction of more fuel-efficient aircraft, as well as the expansion and modernization of infrastructure across all regions where the company operates.

DHL Express also continues to invest in industry-leading security solutions. In 2026, the company surpassed the milestone of 500 TAPA-certified facilities worldwide, solidifying its position as the logistics provider with the most TAPA-certified facilities in the world through ongoing investments in advanced security technologies, infrastructure, and operational processes.

At the same time, DHL Express is strengthening its technology and IT infrastructure to enhance cybersecurity, system resilience, shipment visibility, and operational efficiency. Investments in digital solutions for customers—including capabilities based on artificial intelligence and the ongoing development of the MyExpress platform—help customers streamline their international shipping processes and improve their shipping experience. Sustainability remains a priority for DHL Express. The company continues to invest in fuel-efficient aircraft, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), electric vehicles, net-zero-carbon operational facilities, and other initiatives designed to reduce emissions from its operations, while also supporting its customers in achieving their own sustainability goals.
